Up for a Little Magic?
Friday nights are Magic: The Gathering Nights at Big Robot, so dig out those cards and come down to play! We’re inviting folks from all over, so swing by, team up, and duel until Midnight!
There’s nothing to do in Tipp City anyway, so why not come out and make some new friends! As we start to attract more folks to our regular Friday Night event, we’ll get tournaments and cut-throat games going, leading up to getting an OFFICIAL SANCTION from Wizards of the Coast!
But we can only get the official “Friday Night Magic” status (with the free cards, booster packs, and posters) if people show up. So GET DOWN HERE TOMORROW NIGHT! And don’t forget your cards! If you need cards, they sell them at Heroes for Sale in Vandalia or at any local Target or Wal-Mart. See you tonight!
No Tournament Tomorrow
Just a reminder – we are NOT holding the Halo 3 Tournament tomorrow (April 17) as we had no one sign up to participate. We WILL be holding a 2 vs. 2 Halo 3 tournament sometime in late May. EMAIL US if you want to be added to the list. As soon as we have more information, we’ll post it to the website.
Complete a Survey for Me!
My industry group, iGames, is looking for players and gamers to fill out a survey to help design the box art for Lord of the Rings Online: the Mines of Moria. It’s the next paid expansion pack for Lord of the Rings Online. Please take a minute and fill out the survey for me – thanks! When the survey asks for your home game center, please make sure to enter “Big Robot Game Cafe!”
We’ve Added Website Pages
A few new pages for you to look at: a page on Birthday and other Parties, an updated List of PC Games available for in-store play, an updated list of our Food, Drink and Retail offerings, and an Upcoming Games listing with release dates and information about some of the game titles. Our first three weeks have gone very well and we’re adding new offers and products as we progress, so keep checking back in with us. Have you tried our new Mana Potions? We are the only place in Ohio to carry this new, high-impact energy drink.
Great Articles in the Dayton Daily News, Independent Voice and Tipp Herald
Big Robot Game Cafe has gotten some GREAT press coverage over the past week, and I just wanted to share it with folks in case they haven’t seen it.
- Big Robot Game Cafe made the front page of the Neighbors section of the Dayton Daily News on Thursday, April 3 with a lengthy article by DDN staff writer Nancy Bowman. She spoke about the Cafe and our varied offerings and included portions of an interview she conducted with me last week. It’s great to see other folks getting interested in what we’re doing here! Here is an excerpt of the article – to read the full article, please visit the Dayton Daily News website page.
Tipp City business offers place to play video and board games
By Nancy Bowman, Staff Writer, Thursday, April 03, 2008
TIPP CITY — With a visit to Big Robot Game Cafe, people can take a trip into the past, the future and another life through video gaming or entertain themselves the old-fashioned way through board games. Greg Enslen, owner of the cafe at 114 E. Main St., combined his personal love of gaming with a desire to open a retail operation downtown and give people, particularly younger ones, something to do locally.
“I was looking for something that would be fun, someplace where people could come and play,” Enslen said. In developing a business plan, he researched the video gaming industry, visited cafes in Detroit and Indiana and surveyed local kids ages 12 to 15 about what games they would play, what they’d pay and what concerns their parents might have with a gaming cafe.”
- The print versions of the Tipp Independent Voice and the Tipp Herald carried articles and pictures about our Star Wars 501st Fundraising Event on March 29th. We had over 300 people come out to visit our Open House and support Child Care Choices, a local charity. And apologies to anyone who got towed!
